There is no greater comfort than to know that God truly exists, is completely holy, and loves us in a way that is so tremendous, that it almost seems difficult to get our head wrapped around it. Yet He has demonstrated that love through His precious Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.
The question is often asked; “if you were to die today and stand before God, and He were to ask you; why should I let you into my Heaven", what would your response be?”
This is certainly a fair question and one that needs to be contemplated. If God exists, and life is indeed eternal, doesn't it make sense to want to know where that eternity will be spent? In reality, isn't this, by far, the most important question you could ever ask yourself? Maybe you're not sure if God even does exist. Beloved, God certainly exists! This is something which can be proven and as we build this site, we will include many articles, tools, and links—not to mention my book— to help you understand the very foundational reality of God's existence.
Not only does God exist but He has communicated to us through His Word, which is, of course, the Bible. This is a unique communication because God has placed His Divine fingerprints all over it. The Bible is overflowing with evidence of its Supernatural inspiration. In other words, what we discover in the Bible are abundant examples of features that can only be explained in terms of having come from God and God alone.
With all this in mind, what does the Bible say in reference to the above question about eternity in Heaven? Basically, it is this: we could not answer the question about God letting us into Heaven by saying that we have been “good people” or that we are “religious”. These responses will not secure a spot in Heaven. A response that brags of church attendance, confirmation, or family upbringing would also be insufficient requirements to spend eternity in Heaven.
So what is the correct answer? The Bible—God‟s Word— has the simplest and most wonderful answer. Our eternity in Heaven has been secured by the Lord Jesus Christ. His death on the cross paid for our sins. What, then, does God require of us? God simply asks us to say yes to Christ and trust Him as our Lord and Savior.
Here are some verses from the Bible that spell this out a little better:
Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”
Romans 5:8: “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
John 11:25-26: Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die.”
Romans 10:9: “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Isaiah 53:5: “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.”
John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
There are obviously many, many more verses like this, both Old and New Testament, which speak of God's love and plan of salvation for us through Jesus Christ. We can enjoy perfect peace, perfect love, perfect fellowship, and perfect joy, for all eternity with our Lord, and all believers in Christ who have gone on before us. There is nothing we can do to earn that; Jesus paid it all.
Ephesians 2:8-9: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast.”
I ask that you prayerfully consider these wonderful truths. I will pray for you as well. God Bless!
1Cr 2:9 But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him."
